In 1895 SAMGA (Société Anonyme des Magasins à Grains d'Anvers) had the first grain silo’s built at the Amerikadok, after a design by the Antwerp architect Frans van Dijk. This building contains technical elements that were unique for Belgium and even for Western Europe.
